Abstract
[Extracted from author's introduction] Discussions concerning statistical process control (SPC) and industrial statistics are often presented in parochial terms - the two are treated as separate disciplines, only related in that each has statistical principles as its foundation. It is important to understand that, in practice, a much more interdependent relationship should exist between SPC and industrial statistics.
This paper provides a model for understanding and teaching the role of SPC as it relates to industrial statistics.
