Abstract
A classic video game is used to illustrated how "variances" are split up in an Analysis of Variance table. I find this helps people trying to understand ANOVA results.

This is a shorter version of a paper published in the ASQ's Six Sigma Forum Magazine. Unfortunately the ASQ paper is not available online; however this article at least contains the key points of discussion.
