Abstract

This article explores the use of a nested design in a measurement system analysis with destructive testing. Includes a discussion of model assumptions and examines results from a practical example.

Notes

Arguably, many analysts are taught to consider using a nested design when performing a measurement system analysis where the response variable results in “destruction.” As indicated in the paper, this need not necessarily be the case. This paper addresses an approach when the "small batch size" argument is relevant.

My opinion is that the discussion involving the topic of "large batch sizes" is probably more important. For that reason, I elaborated the point in a short paper: A Comment on Measurement System Analysis with Destructive Testing.
